We are seeking a talented and detailed oriented Senior Accountant to join our Finance and Accounting team.  In this position, you will play a key role in supporting accurate accounting, analyzing financial data, preparing reporting and providing insights to support our decision making. 

 

The Senior Accountant will work closely with our US Finance and Accounting Manager, the International Finance and Accounting Teams (US and EU), to facilitate accounting operations and support planning and analysis functions.  This role is part of our Madison, WI office team.

 

This position will assist our leaders by providing vital information supporting financial decisions and ensuring accuracy and integrity in financial documents and reporting and help evolve the accounting and reporting of project costing, functional cost reporting, support planning, and perform revenue and profitability analysis. 

 

The Senior Accountant will also coordinate intercompany financial transactions, evolve project/product costing and profitability accounting, metrics and reporting, and ensure accounting practices are in compliance with legal guidelines and accounting principles. 

 

 

Job Duties

  • Develop and enhance the month-end close process, ensuring accuracy and completeness.

  • Oversee reconciliation of bank, credit card, petty cash, and other balance sheet accounts monthly and prepare and post journal entries.

  • Assist in the performance, development, and maintenance of internal controls that ensure proper, accurate, and timely recording of transactions.

  • Apply relevant revenue recognition policies for both subscription-based and project-based contracts.

  • Ensure compliance with relevant financial regulations and reporting requirements.

  • Provide support and facilitate improvements to existing financial planning systems and tools or implementation of new tools.

  • Work closely with Sales and Operations teams to understand impact of related processes on revenue results.

  • Support external annual audits and tax filings.

  • Perform ad hoc analysis and projects as requested.

 

Job requirements

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting is required (CPA or CMA a plus but not required).

  • 3 + years of progressive accounting experience.

  • Advanced proficiency within Microsoft Excel.

  • Experience with Accounting software.

  • Working knowledge of GAAP or IFRS principles.

  • Ability to communicate effectively with teammates and management about the finances of the business.

  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and project management skills.

  • Comfort with ambiguity, uncertainty, and a rapidly evolving business landscape.
